REVIEW: Mary Jardin Lavender Garden Basic Set

I received this set from my sister who went to Mary Jardin's event on July. I was in awe on how beautiful the packaging for every products. (Links and prices are stated at the end of this post).

Let's learn a little about our local product, Mary Jardin.

It is interesting because the whole products are organic, one point for that! I never try any organic products before since I was exposed into korean skincare/brands and my selfish self never trusted any local products because of so many bad reviews about it.

As soon as i opened the box, I could smell a very beautiful light scent of lavender. I was so obsessed with smell and out of the three, you could possibly know which one already caught my attention. Yes, it's their cleanser face soap!

Lets get down into the reviews for each product.

🌸 HANDCRAFTED LUXURY FACE SOAP 50g

"Mary Jardin Handcrafted Luxury Facial Soap is the product of a traditional recipe that is both purifying and moisturizing to the skin. It cleanses deep to the pores to remove dirt and excess oil, leaving skin softer, smoother and more radiant looking. Contains all-natural exfoliant to gently remove dull, lifeless skin and expose new, fresh, beautiful skin"

No, but seriously. Look at the details and how beautiful the soap is. I felt bad and didnt want to use it. It smells good, obviously.

What's the ingredients?

"Saponified Olive Oil, Palm Oil, Coconut Oil, Castor Oil, Goat Milk, Honey, Oat, Bentonite Clay, Zinc Oxide, Lavender Essential Oil"

Honey, Oat? Those are my favorite things ever. I cut the soap into small lumps and put it inside a small case. I will use it and whenever I'm out of it, I will cut another small lumps.

How To Use It?

"Work up a luxurious creamy lather and smooth over face. Rinse. Use twice daily and enjoy the soothing experience"

My first time using this soap, it was not a good experience. The soap doesn't produce much foam and after I washed away, my skin felt smooth. But when the water dries, my skin felt dry and it needs an instant moisturizer. I didnt feel any pain, unless when the soap hit your eyes and it stings so much. Yes, it stings so much my eyes turned red. I washed with clean water for few times to make the sting gone.

My sister is a dry skin type and when she tried this, she said the soap hurt her skin so much that it started to peel by itself. But not that extreme peeling until bleeding (duh!). So, for those who have dry skin type, this soap isnt for you.

I've been using this for weeks now and i havent deal any breakout and the dryness became bearable. It's just when you used this soap, please moisturize your face as soon as possible and maybe thats the purpose of their facial oil! As a cleanser, I think this is just like any other cleanser but the ingredients are really amazing. It really does it job to make skin soft and smoother.

Pros:
Smells good.
Lavender smells that can calm you down.
Beautiful soap, the visual is no joke.
Make my skin soft and smoother.

Cons:
Dry out my skin.
Sting like hell if it contact with your eyes (Please be careful!)



🌸 HANDCRAFTED DETOX CLAY MASK 60g



HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA! Do you know why I laughed? Because I had a worst experience when using this. Nope, it wasnt the clay mask's fault. It was my fault. I was a dumb ass for not reading the instructions properly.

What's The Ingredients?

"Natural Clays . Activated Charcoal . Green Papaya Extract . Oat . Dried Lavender Buds . Zinc Oxide"

The mask's texture is very powdery, almost like a fine dust. As soon as I opened the cap, the dust flew away. It can be dangerous if you accidentally inhale it so please be careful. By looking at the photos, I could spot oats and the dried lavender buds. This mask, surprisingly, didnt smell anything (at least in my experience).

And it become even more interested because you can add something like spring or filtered water, any herbal infusion (eg. herbal tea), milk, fresh squeezed citrus juice or yogurt! I loved using milk or yogurt because of the cooling effect. The cooling effect didn't come from the mask, it came from the yogurt or milk that I keep in fridge.

For this clay mask, Mary Jardin has claimed that :

🌝 Warm liquid makes the mask EVEN MORE effective and improves skin's absorbing power.

🌝 It is normal for your face to get slightly red once you removed the mask due to increased blood flow. It will dissipate within 30 minutes.

How To Use It?

"Put 1 teaspoon of mask into a bowl. Mix with liquid of choice. Apply to the cleansed, damp face, avoiding area around eyes and mouth. Remove the mask after 15-20 minutes; before it is completely dry. To remove, wash the face with warm water and wipe off gently using washcloth. Finish off with Mary Jardin Handcrafted Luxury Facial Soap for a truly pampering treatment. Use 1-2 times per week,"

This is the part where I got fucked up a little bit. The instruction did say to remove the freakin mask 15 - 20 minutes, BEFORE IT IS COMPLETELY DRY. And I was so dumb, I thought if i keep the mask longer it will be more effective but I forgot that clay mask isnt same like any other sheet mask that I wear.

I worn the clay mask over 20 minutes and it already completely dry. It became hard but still easy to remove but BBAM! After I removed the mask, my skin color gone and I looked like an ashes. I looked like the original color of the clay mask itself. My face turned greyish and I got panicked for a moment since it was so hard to remove. I rubbed my skin with warm wet towel, it worked but it took times to make the stain gone.

So, lesson learned. Use this mask and remove before it completely dry!

But overall, my experience with this mask was nothing special. It did leave my skin feel dry after that and I think it's normal for any clay masks. But since I'm lazy and to prepare the mask itself need motivation to do it, I didnt use it often. Make sure you apply the mask all over your face using mask brush or any makeup brush. If you are a really motivated person, you might need to buy a mask's brush for the clay mask itself.

Pros:
Nice packaging.
Good ingredients.
Dont have weird smell.

Cons:
Skin feels dry (but thats normal!)

Here comes my MOST favorite product out of these three. It smells so good, it smells lavender. And it give a very good night sleep because lavender has that calming effect.

What's The Ingredients?

Argan Oil, Rosehip Oil, Avocado Oil, Sunflower Oil, Castor Oil, Jojoba Oil, Lavender Essential Oil, Tea Tree Oil, Sea Buckthorn Oil, Vitamin E

The texture is light but when you apply it onto your skin, it feels heavy. So, I would suggest to use this during night time and not during day. It smells heavenly good, and after few weeks using this I can see my skin glowing. I did experience a few breakout but it ease away with time and I dont know why either. I didnt use it every night. I only used it when I feel like my skin needs extra pamper. I think this might be suitable for dry skin, even though it claims that it is suitable for all skin types (even the sensitive one).

For someone who has oily skin like me, this facial oil seems like a little too much for me and thats why i only used it during night. But surprisingly, I didnt wake up with greasy feeling at all. My skin didnt look like a grease ball. It was just only the first application. Yes, it feels heavy during the first application but then you woke up with your skin glowing and not greasy. What kind of magic is that, I dont even know. The facial oil also give enough moisturizing effect and it can be use as a cleanser and removing your makeup as well.

Pros:
Smells so good.
The after-effect was insane!
Good packaging.
Very moisturizing.
Multipurpose (cleanser, makeup remover)
Easily absorb.

Cons:
Heavy if wearing during day.
Might not be suitable for oily skin.
Breaks me out.
